Project Toyota Tundra- Installing the TRD Supercharger Part 1
Hey, that’s how the truck got so dirty when Jeff borrowed it at Sears Point!

TRD’s engineers assured us that we had nothing to fear and that the supercharger had passed Toyota’s normal durability testing plus some special torture that TRD’s engineers had come up with. Test vehicles were loaded to over their maximum capacity and towed up the Baker grade in summer heat.  They were also tested in this way on several slopes even steeper than the Baker grade.  The engineers reported that the Tundra passed with flying colors.  No detonation, overheating, smoked engines or trannies.

Getting stuck sucks.  It is absolutely unacceptable if your tow vehicle is prone to overheating.  The Titan has stranded us in the middle of the desert before in sweltering 115 degree heat.  Not fun.  We wanted to be sure that our Tundra would not do this.  TRD’s engineers say no way.  BTW the Tundra’s stock radiator is the size of a semi truck’s!  We were amazed how huge it was.

We have overheated a Titan several times and gotten stranded towing way under its maximum rating so we demand that our tow vehicle be super bulletproof. Nothing sucks like getting stranded in the middle of the desert in the summer. TRD’s engineers assured us that nothing would happen.  We don’t pull anything near our Tundra’s maximum capacity so we assume we will not tax it at all.

Even if you get stuck in a beautiful place it still sucks.  Especially if it’s in a desolate place in the middle of Bumfuck Egypt.

TRD’s engineers even told us that if we drove our truck in the same way, we could expect 1-2 more mpg as well.  Good news now that gas is getting stupid expensive.
