Next, it was time to replace the bed lights and the CHMSL with new LED lights.
We removed the lens by taking off the two Philips screws.
Be sure not to damage the gasket on the lens which may be brittle or sticky. If you damage it, it has to be replaced or water will get into the lights.
The sockets and wiring for the bulbs for the roof lights showed signs of getting too hot. The bulbs were all stuck in the sockets. We had to pull them out with injector pliers. This was pretty difficult because we didn’t want to break the bulb off in the socket. It was good that we were replacing the filament lights with low-current draw LEDs to take the load off the somewhat cooked wires and sockets.

So the resistor is only needed for anything that blinks, like a turn signal, and not backup lights or brake lights?
