The E-ROD harness and incorporated fuse/relay box (lower left) is plug-and-play except for leads to power the cooling fan and fuel pump. |
The brand new E-ROD harness comes with all connectors and leads clearly labeled. It’s not often we get to work with a clean, pliable wiring harnesses that bends easily! |
In hindsight, we could have saved a lot of trouble by installing the E-ROD’s wiring harness onto the engine BEFORE mounting the engine in the chassis. Clearance between the intake manifold and the firewall made it hard to tuck the fat part of the harness down between the two. |
We mounted our ECM in the same location in the passenger footwell that the stock Mazda computer lived. |
The ECM plugs are really nice weatherproof connectors that secure with a lever and lock down rather than the old style connectors located with a single 10mm screw in the center. The ECM is also half the size of older GM computers making packaging in the RX-7’s already tight footwell space much easier. |
