SCION TUNER CHALLENGE:

Builders were given a stock Scion tC, $15k, and 90 days to design and build their entry.  

Josh Scroll Scion WSDJosh Scroll’s Scion WSD tC was Tuner Challenge competitor was converted to right hand drive, making it the only one in the world.  Dezod Motorsports added a Garrett T3/T04E turbo kit to the 2AR motor making 324whp and 296 lb-ft torque.  Tial 38mm wastegate, Q 50mm blow off valve, FMIC, Deatschwerks 550cc fuel injectors, AEM Fuel and Ignition controller, Boomslang custom wiring harness, and Walbro 255lph fuel pump round out this kit.  No A/C or heater, custom wide body kit, tow strap, hood pins (hood nostrils?) make this a true race ready tC and get my vote for performance in the Tuner Challenge but judges voted it 3rd place.
Scion L-DZ The Scion L-DZ Concept by Walter Franco got the fan vote of Scion’s Tuner Challenge and 2nd place by the judges.  This VIP inspired design mod list reads like a Hot Import Nights spec sheet:
“polished stainless intake system w/ angled nitrous bung, rewiring and tucking, One-Piece AeroRotor, shaved antenna, smoked side view mirror lenses, A pillar covers, glove box (are those optional now???), perforated center console arm rest and door panel inserts, air bag (seriously???)” and in case you were wondering a “GIGI Air Freshener (Squash scent)”.  It does have a 75 shot of nitrous which it should use to blow itself up.
 
Simpli-tC by Young TeaThe winner of the Scion Tuner Challenge (and $10k purse) is the Simpli-tC by Young Tea known for his FRS86 lifestyle brand.  He added a custom wide body kit from MV Designz, a Garrett T3 turbo, Sparco seats and harnesses, Greddy gauges, Pioneer audio, and House of Kolors Lite Teal Pearl Paint.

Bisimoto Genesis coupeBisimoto engine bay  Bisimoto always guarantees some racing performance.  This Genesis Coupe features the stock Hyundai Lambda 3.8L V6 engine with Bisi internal components including steel conrods, intake gasket, injectors, Level 24 cams, and twin Bisi/Turbonetics BTX6462 turbochargers, Godzilla blowoff valve, and Dual RG45 wastegates.  Internals are upgraded with Arias forged pistons, Golden Eagle sleeves, WTC metal surface treatment, Supertech valvetrain, MagnaFuel 750 fuel pump, ARP head and main studs, Port Flow design custom headwork, AEM Infinity engine mgmt. system, Bisi spec-action Ironman clutch, Drive Shaft Shop 5.9 axles and driveshaft, and Burns stainless exhaust.  Bisi makes this Genesis track worth with a set of Progress coilovers, Bisi roll cage and reservoir socks, Racepak IQ3 dash, and Incurve aluminum wheels wrapped in Toyo R888 R-compound tires.
 
Hyghlighter conceptHylighter concept Blinding performance brought to you by the EGR Group Hylighter features the Hyundai 1.6L Gamma,turbocharged direct injection 4 cylinder engine tuned by Bisimoto Engineering.  AEM intake, Magnaflow exhaust, ARK Performance coilover system, AEM strut bar, and Brembo brake upgrade.
