Sneak Peek: Indoor Auto Racing 600cc Micro SprintsPosted on February 1, 2024byDave ZipfOther cars mounted the radiator lower for better center of gravity. Check out how different these two cars are: different radiator mounting arrangements, different steering racks, different springs, and different shocks…the wide-open nature of these cars is what makes them interesting. The fact that so many different cars still create close racing is what makes them fun to watch. All cars run some sort of wheel cover. This keeps dirt from building up inside the rim which will unbalance the wheels. Some cars had these really nice-looking moon disc type covers.Others went with a block of foam stuffed inside the bead lock. Bead lock wheels are common to keep the soft, low pressure tires seated on the rim. With the cornering forces these cars experience, it’s possible to debead the tire without the beadlock.Lots of cars had protective booties over their dampers. This keeps dirt off the shaft and out of the seals and delicate inner workings of the dampers themselves to extend the service life of the damper. Sometimes they are high end polyester cloth with velcro made by the manufacturer.Sometimes they are just corrugated tubing bought from the hardware store and zip tied on. The Dirt Nationals attracts all sorts of racers from the weekend hobbyist to the pro. For some teams, running Micro Sprints is all they do all year long. For others, this is one series of up to six that they regularly compete in.Some teams had pit caddies ready for the main event. Micro sprint racing is very rough and tumble and broken steering linkages or dampers are not uncommon. Making quick repairs or setup changes for a qualifying race or LCQ is crucial to staying in the competition.RelatedPrevious page 1 2 3 4 5 6 7Next pageRelated TopicsDirt RacingOval RacingIndoor Auto RacingIARMicro Sprint Previous Article ISFProjectsLexusSikky Lexus IS-F SwaybarsPosted on January 28, 2024byMike KojimaView Post Next Article RX-7 Restomod (3rd Gen)ProjectsMazdaProject FD RX7 Restomod: Part 13 – Porting the 13B REWPosted on February 4, 2024February 5, 2024byBilly JohnsonView Post Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
