The Nissan and Datsun crowd came out in force. DSport brought out this black R33 and blue R35. I knew something was up with the R33 when it drove by and I smelled corn fuel. Beyond the massive intercooler, notice the USA driver’s side/Japan passenger’s side headlight has been repurposed.
It is now a source of cold air to feed the turbos. As you dedicated readers know, colder is better for turbos. On the intake side of the engine is the baller Hypertune intake manifold. With the big upgraded turbos being as tightly packed as they are in the engine bay, the turbine housings are wrapped in insulation blankets. Melting all those rubber lines along the firewall, baking the hood, and baking the electrical connectors attached to the coils for the spark plugs would really suck. Lastly, you can’t go wrong with the OEM Nissan oil filter; that’s all I ever used on my Nissans.
There is some Japanese inspection sticker on the intake of the IHI turbo. Check out the fittings for the boost reference signal; that might be the most baller setup I’ve seen for a boost line. You guys know how it is, it’s usually a brass hose barb bought from the local hardware store with silicon line connected and a hose clamp.
The rear wing only has the ‘GT-R’ on one side similar to how the Ferrari F40 only has ‘F40’ on one side. Also, that appears to be a dry carbon wing element. Fancy…
It’s not a Skyline, but it has a Skyline engine in it! I really dig the wide body fender extensions on these cars to stuff wider wheels and tires. Go look back at the Nismo IDx pictures and you’ll notice the IDx takes a cue with the bolted-on fender extensions.
Ah, the simple days of no A/C and front bumper supports. It allows for easier mounting of the massive front intercooler and radiator.
