Saturday afternoon was qualification, but with such long delays, many thought that first round eliminations would not happen. However, the NMCA was able to bring the cars in with just enough time to run through. Craig was able to sweep by and move on to Round 2. |
With many delays again on Sunday, it seemed like it was forever before NSC would run again… |
However, the call to the Staging Lanes was made and the excitement began to rise once again. |
However, it would only be to Round 2 that Craig and his Garrett Turbo Bug would go. His competitor quick staged his car and threw Craig off his concentration. He would leave on his rival's light, causing him to false start and disqualify his run. Now, it was time for the Big Boys in the Garrett Turbo Pro Street Class to go through qualifying and eliminations. |
First, however, a brief review on the Modular Mustang Racing Pro Street Shelby Cobra Mustang. While you can read the article here, what makes this car so unique is the fact that in the Garrett Turbos Pro Street Class most of the cars are running over 450 Cubic Inches. The MMR Shelby is using a 5.4L based block, meaning it is using less than 400 cubic inches in a class of monsters! |
It is doing this with a pair of Garrett GT4718s, that's not even Garrett's largest drag turbo! It is nothing short of amazing to know what this car is capable of and how little it is using. It is also utilizing a Garrett based liquid-to-air intercooler and manifold designed by driver Greg Seth-Hunters. The engine and chassis are maintained by Mark Luton, Brian Peterson and Pete Seth-Hunters. |
