Tesla Model S P100D – Lowering Links On Titan 7 T-S5 Wheels Wrapped With Nitto Tires

Lowest Height Setting

PROS:

  • Grips extremely well
  • No rubbing at full lock

CONS:

  • Unfortunately, the Nitto Invo road noise was too loud for my liking, especially since the Tesla does not really produce any other noises, road noise is all you’re left to hear.
  • The recommended stock tire size of 245/45/19 with a diameter of 27.7” vs the Nitto Invo tire size of 255/35/19 with a diameter of 26”, resulting in 6.5% smaller than the recommended stock tire size which was too small for our setup. The Model S is a very long car and when lowering the air suspension to a proper stance, we would bottom out at the center of our car on speed bumps or even parking garage humps.  I had to constantly raise the suspension driving up any driveway or speed bump which was insanely annoying.
  • Smaller tire diameter provides inaccurate speed readings of 3.7 MPH lower than stock at 60 MPH, provides less range, and slower ¼ mile times.
  • The tire size is too small and looks awkward on the car.

The Nitto NT555 G2 is the second generation in the NT555 line up for ultra-high-performance summer tire designed for performance drivers.  Compared to the original NT555, Nitto has improved traction, handling, and wet-braking capabilities, enhancing cornering and stability.

They use a special silica compound to increase the synergy between all the compound elements to reinforce bonds for higher compound rigidity during cornering, resulting in better handling capabilities in both wet and dry.  The NT555 G2 provides an immediate sense of control thanks to the extra stiff sidewall and reinforced shoulder tread blocks delivering better steering input with the road.

      1. I’m on desktop, also not a fan of the picture setup. Makes it too easy to blow by the majority of the pictures. Content is top notch as always though!

  1. The sprung/unsprung weight ratio on this car is tremendous. There’s no reason that you should not be able to get some decent ride quality, although I wonder if the stock air suspension would need some tweaking. I have heard that the stock car suffers in the damping department.
