The Last Hoosier Hundred

Epilogue:

Freedom 100 Start
I’d like to add a bit of an after story to this tale because it’s utterly remarkable. Chris Windom had the absolute worst weekend possible, totaling three different race cars in as many days…with not a single accident being his fault. His first wreck was at the Hoosier Hundred, but the next morning he made his Indy Lights debut, qualifying into an impressive 3rd place. Unfortunately, that was short lived as he was taken out in the first lap, riding the wall and fence of Turn 4 and utterly destroying his Dallara IL15. Once again, Windom was uninjured, but his race was over early.
Chris Windom's Carb Night Classic Crash
That night, Windom was racing at the Carb Night Classic. He didn’t qualify very well, but was working his way through the field. At the near ⅔ point, something broke in Windom’s Silver Crown asphalt car (17) and he pancaked the Turn 1 wall, collecting Derek Bischak (31) in the process.
Chris Windom Wreckage
Chris Windom is a great driver, having won the USAC Sprint car championship in 2017, as well as the Silver Crown Championship in 2018. But for Indy weekend, the poor guy just couldn’t catch a break. Fortunately for Chris, he survived the madness of the Little 500 Saturday night, finishing a strong 4th.  This was also the only race of the weekend we did not attend.  Maybe we’re Windom’s bad luck charm…
