The Life of Opy: The Nissan Juke Multi-Purpose Racer: Part 3

by Khiem Dinh

The last time we saw the Nissan Juke Multi-Purpose Racer Opy, Opy had some fun competing at a hill climb event. However, Opy ran into some over-heating issues and Lars started working on upgrades. It was time to put in more equipment to put some more ‘Racer’ into the Multi-Purpose Racer too.

In Part 1, we were introduced to Opy and Lars’s concept for the Nissan Juke to be a Multi-Purpose Racer. In Part 2, Opy got its first taste of action racing in a Hill Climb event. As is typical in taking out a new race car for its first event, issues were found. Here in Part 3, Opy undergoes more training becoming more racer.

To get ready for a full cage, nearly everything comes off the unibody. The engine and transmission were dropped out the bottom.
The whole rear subframe with everything attached (wheels, axles, diff, sway bar, and all) came off too.
The interior was completely gutted again and Opy started to trim off some more fat.
Chunks of unnecessary fat were cut off creating a leaner Multi-Purpose Racer.
