The Life of Opy: The Nissan Juke Multi-Purpose Racer: Part 3

,

All the street car crap had to go. No need for that in the Multi-Purpose Racer.
Lars is here having fun with wiring harnesses and trimming them down to shave weight. If you recall from Mike Bonnani’s similar adventure on the E90 race car, there’s a lot of weight to be saved here.
After Opy had finished leaning out, it was time to get buff. Lars starts the process of putting in a very strong and sturdy cage.
A lot of triangulation is used similar to WRC rally car cages. Part of Opy being a Multi-Purpose Racer includes participating in rally, so Opy got a rally style cage.
Significant roll-over protection was built into the cage.
Gussets were added to the door bars for added strength with dimple dies used to punch holes to remove weight and add stiffness.
