There were a lot of firsts for this race, which will hopefully continue to be on the schedule for years to come. This was the first time the GTLM and P2 cars raced at this circuit, the first time the United Series raced here, and Viper’s first win of the season in GTLM. The race gods must have been happy with the sacrifices made since the sun came out after threatening to rain early in the race. Hopefully they stay happy for another sports car race at IMS, even if it is a support race!

IMSA and Audi worked together to equalize the performance of the R8 with the rest of the class. The R8 become pretty unstable without its splitter.
