TUSC: Indianapolis Motor Speedway 2014

Gustavo Yacaman has had an impressive year with OAK Racing. The team is usually in the fight for a podium despite the P2s lack of power compared to the DPs.
The third place Corvette DP was one of the minority that stayed away from any damage during the race.
OAK recruited Wolverine to help them go up against the competition. He has been struggling with tire changes…

The GT classes continue to excite. In LMGT, there were several  early aggressive moves with consequences. Jan Magnussen in the 3 Corvette  and the 55 BMW Z4 quickly climbed to the front of the pack, using traffic in turn 7 to jump several positions. But as quickly as the racing gods giveth, they taketh away. And several laps later there was a plume of tire smoke in turn 10, and the 3 Corvette came around several positions down, along with the 55 BMW, sans a rear bumper. That certainly did not stop the excitement, as the 62 Risi Ferrari, the 56 BMW, the Vipers, and the Porsches all fought for the lead. In the end, the 93 Viper, wearing its nostalgic livery from its late 1990s GTS success with Team Oreca, took its first podium this year. This was followed by the Risi Ferrari, the 912 Porsche, and both Corvettes to round out the top 5.

The GT teams lined up and waiting to get started.
The 56 BMW took an early lead and held it until it saw some action later in the race. Both BMWs left sacrifices on the track.
The grass on the inside of turn 8 will not need to be mowed for at least a month!
