Nissan VG30 Adjustable Timing Gears by BDE

BDE rebuilt VTC intake pulleys feature a redesigned piston return spring specifically engineered for the load needed to prevent camshaft over-rotation with installed valve spring pressures up to 80 lbs and permit full VTC function. Oil leaks are eliminated by replacing the o-ring and positively locating the rear cover with a dowel pin thereby preventing it from rotating.

At first glance, a stock Late VTC appears adjustable, similar to aftermarket race pulleys, but the bolts used to attach the pulley are located on the back making them completely inaccessible once the VTCs are installed on the cams. The bolt-on pulley with adjustment slots are more of a production aid which allowed the assembly worker to align the timing marks faster during manufacture. However, in doing so, the bolts are typically not centered in the slots and do not allow an equal amount of adjustment from either side of zero. When BDE rebuilds late model VTCs, we set the bolts directly on center with the adjustment slot, allowing a full ±10° (crankshaft) of adjustment from either side of zero. Also, BDE relocates the adjuster bolts to the front of the sprockets making them truly adjustable when installed.

Like the exhaust cams, the BDE intake VTC pulley have an independent 3rd adjusting element so you can baseline adjust the cams to true zero no matter how much the deck surface has been milled, intake and exhaust.  For regular cam timing adjustment, once the baseline has been established, the BDE pulleys can be adjusted 10 degrees advanced or retarded.

For the intake cams, BDE needs your old pulleys as cores, using the front covers from them as Nissan has discontinued servicing them.

We are very much looking forward to being actually able to adjust our cam timing with our new BDE Pulleys.  More new VG30 parts are coming inbound, stay tuned!
