2013 Modified StreetCar Shootout – The Rules, The Cars, The Big Tease.

As you can tell by the pictures and captions the cars in the competition were quite diverse. It made for a VERY interesting competition! As car dorks and members of the “Nerd Alliance” it is always cool to see different recipes for speed. Sure we have our favorites or our favorite WTF moments but it's always interesting. 


Pablo Sanchez Soria's Mazdaspeed 3 is modded with a cp-e Xcel Nano Short Ram Intake, cp-e Turbo inlet pipe, ETS top mount intercooler, cp-e QKspl downpipe, cp-e v2 catback. All this huffing the corn and managed by a Stratified tune. 

 

The Mazdaspeed3 was dicing it up pretty good on the track with the help of some KW coilovers, JBR rear sway bar, and Corksport camber plates.

Sweet, MIQ reader contribution FTW (updated): Sean Hammad's 1995 E36 M3 coupe has a T04R turbo, 666 manifold, Tial wastegate, Technica tune, MAF, injectors, Apex race wheels and puts 20psi down.

The Innovate Motorsports Scion FR-S had a trap speed that was fast enough to go back to the future! If you get the reference you will understand that something clearly was not right.  It was powered with the Innovate/Sprintex blower package but tune issues kept the car from making full horsepower. They shed the wing and adjusted tire pressures for the dragstrip experience!  Bonus- much clearer photos…

But it was quick around the corners getting a wheel or two off the ground. That's an APR GT-250 carbon spec wing providing oodles of downforce.  GT3 carbon fiber mirrors round out the aero package.

Check out the fluorescent orange Gram Lights 57DR wheels wrapped in Continental rubber. Hidden behind the wheels are a set of KW Clubsport coilovers (custom valved by Robi Spec) with adjustable top mounts, which allow independent rebound and compression damping adjustment. 

The front and rear can be lowered between 0.8 inches to 2 inches without any loss in suspension travel. 

The Robi Spec front lower control arms are roll center, caster, camber, and anti dive adjustable. Robi also corrected bump steer with an adjustable tie rod end replacement.
