Our truck is a Summit White 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ 4X4 with the Z71 suspension package that has been modified with a hood and front grille from a Silverado 2500.
From the side, the Silverado has a decent amount of positive rake in the suspension, with the front ride height lower than the rear.
The Silverado is a daily driver that sees a lot of snow and ice during the winter on roads that are not salted or plowed as well as many dirt roads that become quite deep and muddy as the snow thaws. The On-/Off Road All-Terrain tire category perfectly fits the use of this truck and the needs for on-road handling and comfort as well as off-road and winter performance and capabilities.
The original Bridgestone Dueler A/T tires have a narrow tread width and were a little larger than stock dimensions at 265/70-18 with a 32.6” outer diameter. These tires were great for long highway driving and were very quiet. However, they greatly suffered in snow/ice conditions and have very little traction off-road. Needless to say, we needed a better tire for our intended use.
The Falken WildPeak A/T3W is wrapped around a slightly smaller, but wider 17×8.5 ALPHAequipt Command wheel and is in the OEM size of 265/70-17 with a 31.9” outer diameter and a 9” treadwidth (almost 2 inches wider). This tire has a 121 load index which means this tire has a max loading of 3,195lbs per tire, making it great for towing. The “S” speed rating is good for 112mph and
With the ALPHAequipt Command wheels and Falken WildPeak A/T3W tires mounted and installed, our Silverado now has a far more aggressive look.
The black 8-spoke wheel design looks rugged and gives the entire truck a nice visual contrast. We chose to go with a more off-road focused 17” wheel down from the stock 18” wheel on this LTZ model, but it does not look like the wheels are any smaller or undersized for the truck.
