FR-S suspension install
19mm socket and box wrench to get the top spindle bolts out. If you don't have access to an impact, you will be using a ratchet (3/8″ or 1/2″) here.

Now that the bottom bolts are out we release the 12mm head nuts on the shock top. Common practice in my garage is to leave one in with just a few threads (foreground) left on. That way when the shock drops out it only drops a little. Later with one hand on the strut body and one hand loosening the 12mm, you can remove the strut safely without tearing an ABS wire or brake hose.

Home mechanics beware, A spring compressor is required to safely remove the top hats (to be reused on the KW). Also if you do not have access to an impact gun, you will have to have a tool similar to the 85450 in a 17mm. A 6mm allen is needed to keep the center shaft from spinning.

Due to the shorter assembly, a spring compressor is not needed to put the top hats back onto the KW. There was some debate in the garage if the bottom portion of the top hat needed to be used. After looking at the manual and how snug it mated to the bottom metal piece, we put the entire top assembly on.
On the front a person can easily do this by themselves; feed the coilover up while threading the 12mm nuts up top.

The lower and upper bolts are different. The wider one goes on the top spindle bore.
