I'm in the trunk and this picture is of Allen in the wheel well. The trick where Allen reached above for the nut up in front of the car doesn't work here. Two people is ideal here. I loosen the last threads by hand and Allen catches the falling strut.

Trust me I tried the ghetto fab way of gunning off the strut top under my foot making the spring and shock shoot across the shop floor. Didn't work. Center shaft kept spinning. Hold the center with a 6mm allen while using a 14mm tapered box wrench. Again don't be like me. Use a spring compressor.

Next take the cardboard off the top of the shock. KW provide two small nuts that should be used as jamb nuts.
Here Allen jabs himself in the stomach as I hand thread on the first of two 17mm head nuts.

The KW center shaft is held with a 8mm socket while, the 17mm nut is tightened. Because you cannot get two wrenches into the bore of the shock top, you will need to get the first nut as flush as humanly possible before tightening the top nut on top of it.

Now Allen feeds the shock up through the trunk holes. I hand thread it a few turns onto the strut tops.
