Fast Fridays 2014, Part 1

,

Here is an interior shot of the 12C Spider.  It’s very clean, rich with carbon fiber, Alcantara and yellow-stitched leather.

Not surprisingly, this car has carbon ceramic brakes too.  The tire is the same 235/35 series tire, but on 19-in wheels (the Ferrari 458 had same profile on 20s), meaning 1 in lower than the Ferrari still.  There has to be a lot of braking grip left on the table, which is impressive when you think about how well these cars actually slow down.

Considering the F458 and 12C can hit the quarter-mile in the high 10-second range, these cars need this type of stopping power on track, and it's just as much about heat management.  After all, on track, slamming the brakes from over 160mph would be common!

I hope no one minds one more gander at this exceptional piece of machinery.

A Noble M400 frequents these meets, and it never gets old to behold.  With a 2300-lb curb weight and 425bhp from its twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 Ford Duratec, it posts acceleration numbers that rival a Nissan GT-R.  At this weight, however, the M400 seems like the ultimate track car.

This particular example boasts a reported 420 wheel hp from a pair of Garrett turbos, which you can't see too well.  If you're curious as to where they are at, simply follow the intercooler pipe on this side of the core.  See where it comes to a “Y”?  One pipe comes from the far side of the motor, from underneath the intercooler core, and the other is the black one that comes from the top of this this side of the motor, from behind the rear window.  It's a transverse-mounted engine.
