Chris Forsberg and Fredric Aasbo would be the first ones to tackle the wet course. While Aasbo would not have an issue with the slick track, Forsberg's car sounded very ill before the start of Top 32. His car would in fact be on seven cylinders and with an on point Aasbo, that put Forsberg at a huge disadvantage. Fredric Aasbo would knock out the 2009 Champion in the first round of eliminations.

Kyle Mohan and Daijiro Yoshihara would face the slick conditions next. Both drivers started off faster than Aasbo and Forsberg. However, on Kyle's follow run with Dai, Mohan would spin out at the second front clipping zone. This would give Kyle a zero run and Daijiro Yoshihara would move on.

Toshiki Yoshioka in the Garrett Turbo Powered VQ S15 would take on the V8 S14 of Matt Powers. Despite the cylinder advantage against Yoshioka, the Garrett Turbo VQ has the power advantage and was able to snipe out the V8. Toshiki Yoshioka moves on.

Justin “JTP” Pawlak and Tyler McQuarrie were next. These guys were former Falken Tire Teammates and cause of the biggest controversy of 2011 right here in Vegas. However, it would not be Falken Tires making the controversy for a driver switch, but instead what happened on Tyler's lead run. JTP had a great advantage over Tyler, using the torque of the NASCAR V8 under the hood of his Falken Tires Mustang. On his follow run, though, Justin hit Tyler causing him to spin out. This was judged to be JTP's mistake and Tyler moved on to Top 16. JTP has not had a good run since Round 3 at Palm Beach International Raceway and has not had a podium despite his dominating run in the first two events and the second time to not get past Top 32.

Conrad Grunewald in the Hankook Camaro would face Ryan Bell in the LS1 powered S13 240SX. The power difference between the two drivers would prove to be too much and Grunewald took the win.

Despite having 4 less cylinders than Matt Field, Ken Gushi was able to gap and keep a close run against Field. However, it would be the follow run of Gushi that would get everyone talking. Why? Well, Gushi was on fire. Literally. Going into the first Front Clip, Gushi broke an oil line and the car would blow out lots of fire everytime he would lay off the gas an extended amount of time. Not sure what caused it to make more fire off throttle like that since when oil hits anything hot, it should always just catch fire. Maybe Eric Hsu can comment below?

In a stunning turn of chassis, Dave Briggs went back to what he knew, a SR20 powered S14. He started his 2012 in a Nissan 350Z with a NASCAR Mopar V8. The switch worked to a degree, but when you are facing the Falken Monster Mustang, it will eat you alive if you aren't prepared. Vaughn Gittin, Jr was able to surpass Dave Briggs and move on to Top 16.

After being let go from Bergenholtz Racing, Joon Maeng has decided to not let his career end there and is now a privateer in the Lucas Oil/Nitto Tires V8 S13 240SX. This car started out as a KA powered shell that was transformed into the Lucas Oil Rocket you see here in just 30 days. After hearing about being let go by Bergenholtz Racing, Road Race Engineering, Sam's Auto Land, Nitto, Parts Shop Max, Feal Suspension, and many, many other companies came to the aid of Maeng to make this happen. Joon made it happen, but it is a difficult thing to face up against a car that has been sorted out like Luke Lonberger's car has been. The Blu808 Corvette was able to surpass Joon and move on to the Top 16.
