Jef Groff’s Castro Motorsports LSM3 Drift Car

BMW drift car cage tied to chassis
As mentioned, the cage ties nicely into the chassis, which makes a very noticeable difference in chassis rigidity and the way the car reacts to input. I’m pretty sure this is what the kids these days would refer to as a No Flex Zone. Or something like that.
BMW drift car cage door bars
Another look at the door bars and more of the chassis tie-in points at the A-pillar.
BMW gutted door for cage
Completely gutted doors not only help to decrease the weight, obviously, but they’re also necessary to allow enough room for the cage’s door bars.
Drift car custom shift lever
The cockpit of the LSM3 is all business with everything being within easy reach for Jef to do some manhandling on track. The custom shift lever is not only bent back significantly to be within easy reach, but it’s at the perfect height to keep it as close to the wheel as possible without getting in the way.
Drift car electrical cut off and fire system
A great view of the bent shift lever that controls the T101 4-speed dog box transmission, as well as the mandatory electrical cutoff switch and hopefully-never-needed fire system pull.
