The massive reworking of the splitter was the next stage of the 2018 revisions. James hired Spage Sports and owner Alex Vongnhay in July to assist the team in improving the Type R’s front downforce. Alex opened Spage Sports mid-2018 after a few years pouring his heart and soul into his work at PZ Tuning – working on cars like the Vibrant Civic and RSX. Like anyone interested in Time Attack, James has been watching World Time Attack in Australia. Alex has been there and seen the excitement. Ian Rae has been there also. With that enthusiasm and background, the team attacked the front aero. Eric and Mitch did all of the metal work that is behind the drag style fiberglass front end and bumper. Alex and Spage Sport was responsible for all of the composite work. The example set by the Mighty Mouse CRX is huge. Rob Nguyen can claim without hesitation that he has the fastest front wheel drive car in the world. Although retired after the 2017 season, Mighty Mouse has set the benchmark time for front wheel drive cars at Sydney Motorsports Park during World Time Attack and that time has yet to be beaten. James would love to go and tackle that course and seek that record, but that trip to Australia simply is not feasible. His wife and son are not ready for that. We are certain, however, that Rob and Mighty Mouse know that his amazing record is a target right now and that there are teams out there that have that record as their goal.
