LA Auto Show 2016: Nerd’s Eye View – Race Cars and Randoms

,

There’s something I love about this BMW, with a mix of retro look and modern parts.
A steering damper is located behind the fork and under the frame. This is different than the typical sport bike setup, which is to place the damper on the top side of the bike. The engine looks to be air cooled, so this little heat exchanger is probably for the oil.
I have always been into sport bikes with alloy wheels, so it’s interesting for me to see a modern motorcycle with spoked wheels. It gives the motorcycle a retro look.
The air intake for each cylinder of the boxer-twin should be that round hole behind the turn signal. There is a crossover tube behind the front tire, connecting each runner coming off each exhaust port.
This tube before the intake port for the cylinder looks to hold the throttle body and the fuel injector.
