If you read our previous article, our Canton oil pan had provisions for an oil temperature sending unit as well as a turbo drain which made this job a snap. Modding a pan for a temp sending unit is the worst part of putting a temp gauge in and with Canton it’s easy!
We used Autometer’s adaptor, wrapping it in Teflon tape. When using Teflon tape, be careful to wrap the tape so fragments can’t break off and travel through the oil system, possibly blocking a small critical passage somewhere. We have seen this happen before and the results are usually expensive!
The adaptor was screwed into the pan.
The sender was wrapped in Teflon tape as well.
And then the sender was screwed into the adaptor.
Now the sender is ready for wiring.
