Motovicity Ticket to Ride – Ford Mustang Build Part 1

,

With the caliper brackets and rotors in place, it's time to mount the calipers. ST40 calipers have two bleed screws per caliper (one on each side of the caliper), be sure to install the caliper with the bleed screws pointing up….or you'll never be able to bleed your brakes properly. Here we have our lovely hand model John Malapetsas showing us proper bleed screw orientation.
A quick look at the stock rear brake set up on the Mustang. In just a few days of being out in the elements, the rotors are already showing signs of rust build up!
With Performance & Styling being out in the east coast some rust on the underside of the Mustang is inevitable, but every little bit of rust you can keep off a car helps! These StopTech slotted rotors (part# 126.61087SL and 126.61087SR) will help do just that thanks to their e-coating. The rear brake set up is finished off with a set of Posi Quiet brake pads (part# 309.1465), which will provide quiet and dust free operation.
After emptying as much of the brake fluid reservoir using the ol' “turkey baster” technique, the team at Performance & Styling begin the brake bleeding process. Ensuring that the reservoir never goes empty during the bleeding process is extremely important. It would be a shame to invest time pumping away only to have to start all over because you let the reservoir run dry and introduced air into the system. The StopTech STR600 fluid being used in the Motovicity Ticket to Ride Mustang is a DOT4 brake fluid formulized for high performance street applications.

By using a clear tube on the bleed screw the team at Performance & Styling can make sure all the air bubbles are out of the system.

The helpful Motovicity gnome approves of the matching paint on the rear OE calipers on the Mustang. Truly a nice touch 😉
