Motovicity Ticket to Ride – Ford Mustang Build Part 1

,

Whether you're looking for a performance upgrade or simply replacing a worn belt, it's good to know Gates has your Mustang covered with a performance belt from their Micro-V line (part# K060675).

With the braking system's current goals completely taken care of, Performance & Styling turned their heads to a vital wear and tear item on the list – the drive/serpentine belt. It's true, there is nothing sexy or exciting about a serpentine belt, but the fact of the matter is that if it fails your engine will be in a world of hurt. Critical engine components are dependent on the serpentine belt to help drive them, like the water pump and alternator. Though the belt on the TTR Mustang was new and still in great condition, replacing it with a Gates Micro-V belt was a performance upgrade.

The thinner Micro-V belts help keep heat build up down, which translates to a much longer service life. The high-modulus, low stretch polyester tensile cord used in the Gates belts give them the extra strength necessary to last up to three times longer than standard serpentine belts.
The 5.0 Mustang GT can already get out of its own way, and then some, thanks to the 420 ponies under the hood. But come on now, any self respecting car guy simply can't resist adding more ponies in the stable. So Motovicity asked BBK to help out and they came through with a set of their shorty headers, throttle body and cold air intake kit. Aside from looking good right out of the box, the BBK shorty headers come with new gaskets and hardware. BBK offers both a ceramic and chrome finish for their tuned length shorty headers and the team at Motovicity chose to go with the ceramic version (part# 16320). A great choice as the ceramic coating will also help under hood temps down.
The length of the runners on the BBK shorty headers have been optimized to increase horsepower whithin the constraints of the stock location, which means it's a bolt on affair with no modifications needed. A quick comparison of the stock piece to the BBK shorty header clearly shows why the BBK piece makes more power. The tuned lengths and mandrel bends used throughout ensure every bit of power is extracted.
Here you can see just how tightly packaged the stock manifolds are on the Mustang. The starter was removed to help with the installation.
