Nerd’s Eye View: Ducati 1199 Panigale

Onto the other side of the bike, we have the magnesium (lightweight!) clutch cover for the Superquadro engine.  No more Ducati dry clutch rattles on this bike.

 

Peaking underneath the bike with the camera looking back from the front tire, I saw this.  What is it?

 

Ah, it is the air exhaust duct for the lower heat exchanger.  The fan will kick on when the temps get too high.

 

Located before the rear mufflers is a butterfly valve.  It’s probably used for the Engine Brake Control at the minimum and maybe for the traction control too.

 

A view from the other side shows the cable used to actuate the valve.
