Performance Racing Industry 2014: Part 1

,

Ok, let’s switch gears to some massive turbos like this!  This sucker’s got a 427 c.i. BEI LSX engine sporting 2500hp.  It’s got a Waterman fuel pump, which does 20 gallons per minute (that’s 4500 LPH!) through eight 225lb/hr primary injectors (that’s 2362cc/min) and 550 lb/hr (and that’ 5775 cc./min!) secondary injectors.  That’s what you need when you run alcohol.  This car’s best run is a whopping 6.36 at 223 mph!

To put that number into perspective, $2M Bugatti Veyron Super Sport (the faster one rated at 1200bhp), hits around 107mph in that amount of time.

You need that much fuel when you’re running a pair of nasty-big Garrett GTX55-88s at full bore.

GB fuel injector service equipment was on site showing how they clean and test fuel injectors.  Here they’re pressurizing air through the injector into a fluid so you can see the spray pattern.  It was actually rather impressive, since quite a bit of pressure was needed to fill what appeared to be a hydro-locked container.
Speaking fuel injectors, Fuel Injector Clinic was showcasing their high-impedance squirters, including 525cc, 775cc, 900cc, 1100cc, new 1650cc units, and 2150cc–the latter which we’ve installed and are performing nicely on our Project Supra.

Firing away here is FIC's new 1650 cc/min high-impedance injector, which is the perfect size for six-cylinder cars like the Supra and GTR seeking around 900whp on gasoline or 700whp on ethanol.
