Performance Racing Industry 2014: Part 1

,

What really caught my attention in the Pegasus booth were these 600- and 720-cranking amps Antigravity car batteries, which weigh just 5-lbs a piece!  I've got Optimas in two of our projects, which are considered lightweight when weighing 35 lb for he RedTop and 29 lb for the YellowTop, but this is ridiculous.  Hmm…

Race Parts Liquidators have several racing accounts, where they’ll take recyclable engine parts and resell them to the public or car shops.  Here, they’ve got a full Dodge engine off of Dale Earnhardt Jr’s Nascar racecar.

Hawk Performance had a nice Audi R8 V10, driven by Michael Sheen, which placed second in the Pirelli World Challenge GT Class for 2014.

Here’s another look at this beauty.  Check out that carbon fiber splitter action!  I need to get something like that going on my cars (I don't know what it is about splitters and diffusers but they always get me).

Here’s a close-up of the adjustments to the large GT wing.

I've never been in an Audi R8 V10 racecar, but I was lucky enough to experience a 6-speed manual street version for a few weeks, and I've always felt it was hands-down one of the best trannies to shift (along with the Honda Integra Type R and Honda S2000)!
