A top tip is to always use penetrating oil on your rusty exhaust nuts. Let them soak for a few minutes and even the most stubborn, corroded nut can be removed with ease.
Next we loosened the nuts that fasten the muffler to the cats.
With the muffler out of the way, we turned our attention to the shiny new Borla unit.
The new Borla is dwarfed by the stock muffler. While the Borla has slightly sharper bends prior to the muffler, the smaller straight-through flowing design is a lot less restrictive than the internally baffled design of the bent OEM unit.
Borla’s build quality, materials, and finish are worlds above the stock muffler.
The stock muffler is a monster at 46.8 lbs while the super light Borla tipped the scales at 22.6 lbs, that’s less than half the weight and a 24.2 lb savings!
