We are very satisfied with the updated look that the Depo Euro Ellipsoids give to our 1999 E36 M3 and feel they are a must-have to bring a bit of 21st Century refinement and safety to a very classic body style.
The light output of the new HID bulbs and projector housings is quite impressive, lighting up everything in sight. They are so good in fact, while we were in the process of aiming the headlights and were subsequently lighting up the entire block, late-night stragglers mistaking the low-beams as highbeams promptly flashed their displeasure. Once properly aimed, oncoming traffic has no longer been upset due to the chopped beam of the projector, and everything that the lights aim at is now extremely visible.Once darkness fell, we took our newly spectacled M3 for a drive down our favorite road. The light beam stretched far into the distance, lighting up the surroundings with a vivid and colorful picture that meets or exceeds the output of most modern cars on the road today. The HID low beams are so good that the H1 bulb high beams are no longer necessary except to light up anything above the horizon, where the focused beams stretch higher and further than the flooded splash the HID projectors give to everything below the horizon.
The clear view gave a new inspired confidence when driving at night, which is a huge step compared to the dull, near-sighted, yellow output of the original headlights. This level of technology is a huge step in terms of night time driving safety and comfort and really transforms the entire night driving experience, especially on dark and winding roads. Overall, we were very pleased with and highly recommend the Depo Euro Ellipsoid Projector headlights and HID ballasts from European Auto Source for anyone’s E36.
