Now the exhaust flange bolt must be removed. At this point, you can unbolt the turbos from the exhaust manifold.
The turbos can now be lowered out of the truck.
When comparing the stock on the left vs Garrett on the right, you can see that the Garrett turbo has a much larger compressor inducer. You can also see that the inlets and outlets are in the exact right place to make for an easy installation.
On the turbine side, you can see how the wastegate discharge is angled smoothly into the exhaust flow and the turbine outlet has a smoother shaped diffuser. This improves the overall flow of the wastegate and the turbine
To install the turbo, you just remove the flange from the exhaust side of the stock turbo and bolt it to the new turbo.
The turbos are direct bolt-ons without any modifications needed, but you will need to order a couple of new gaskets. The first two are the turbo gaskets which you can see above.
