Next, the mounting holes were drilled.
Now the mounting bolts could be attached by lifting the wheel well liner and holding the nuts from the inside. The Varus canards are quite attractive and complement the rest of the cars front carbon nicely.
The canards are not nearly cosmetic items placed randomly on the front of the car for looks like most aftermarket body kit parts. Their shape and the mounting location were designed using CFD analysis. The canards create Newtonian downforce by having a high-pressure zone on top and a low-pressure zone underneath them. They also serve as vortex generators by creating a vortex along the top of the fender line. This prevents air from curling off the fenders and creates a lower pressure around the front wheels, reducing wheelwell pressure and lift.
We also replaced the annoying side marker lights with these Verus Engineering carbon fiber block-off plates. The OEM lights are held on with flimsy clips which break or have the tabs round off so they constantly fall out. The Verus parts bolt in and will not come loose unless you have other serious problems!
