Project Isuzu VehiCross: Part 5 – Bodywork Round 1

,

With everything back in place the difference is night and day.  This was definitely worth the effort!  We had to replace a few of the plastic mounting clips, but we were able to source replacements from the local parts store.
I am by no means a bodywork man and I am very pleased with how the cowl and wipers came out.
While we had the hood off, we decided to take care of some rusting rock chips.  We plan to repaint the whole hood at some point, but “some point” could be tomorrow or next summer.  Best to stop the rot now before it gets worse.
After sanding back the rust and coating it, we hand applied a bit of primer with a small paint brush.  Since we only needed to fill a few small holes, we didn’t want to bother with masking or feathering.  For the topcoat, we picked up a Duplicolor repair kit.  While Isuzu has not made passenger cars in 7 years, they shared paint colors with GM, so we were able to get a bottle of Olympic White touchup paint.  The Duplicolor All In One kit comes with a basecoat and clear coat, to make touchups near perfect.  The tip of the bottle is even a scraper to help key the old paint.
Can you spot the repair?  Try just above the last U in Isuzu.
