Project Isuzu VehiCross: Part 5 – Bodywork Round 1

,

The final paint repair was to the driver’s fender just in front of the door.  I think at some point this Isuzu has been in multiple accidents, though most of the bodywork has been well repaired.  The hood is definitely repainted (and the clear is peeling) and this dented corner points to something being dropped on the truck at some point in its life.  We bent out the damaged corner, sanded, and painted using the same steps we’ve already mentioned.
Once again, unless you’re really looking for it, you can’t see the repair.  Perfect then.

Next, we moved inside.  This Razo shift knob actually looks pretty cool and really fits the personality of the truck.  Unfortunately, it is broken and would come off in your hand when shifting which sucks, even in an automatic.  The set screw holes were stripped out, so this knob was junk.  We pulled it off and binned it.

Before installing a new knob, we also pulled the gater cover because the sight window was falling out of it.  A dab of superglue around the lip fixed it perfectly.  The foam for the gater cover was toast, but we had no solutions for that, so we left it as is.

The new knob is actually a used original knob.  Not quite as cool looking as before, but at least this one works properly.
