A clean weld is a happy weld.H took a lot of care in cleaning up the surfaces onto which reinforcements would be welded. You can’t weld to dirt, or paint. And you especially can’t weld to weird factory sealant and other glues and goops.
Square tube is approximately chopped to length. This will be used to reinforce the hole.
The length of tube is test fit. If it’s not quite right…
Some marks with a sharpie and a trip through the grinder should get things closer. Fabrication is the art of making many tiny changes very slowly to get where you want.
Once the reinforcing tube was a good fit, it was spot welded into place.
Here is the final product on one side. These tubes will position the cell side-to-side and front-to-back.
