Project Professional Awesome Time Attack Evo: Part 0 – The End of an Era, the Beginning of a Legend

,

Cylinder head modifications are minimal above and beyond a simple valve job when the Manley valvetrain was installed. Compression ratio is 9.0:1 and rod length 150mm.

Our MA Performance EF4 propelled us to many victories. An approximately 65lb compressor wheel is good for up to 650 whp. The wastegate you see here was replaced by a Turbosmart IWG. Our switch to a Garrett GTX3582R was motivated by the limits of the stock frame turbine housing size leading to increased exhaust back pressure at our power levels.

MA Performance craftsmanship, function and beauty combined for over 550 whp (Dynapack) at 32psi.

In 2011 the engine was essentially a mildly modified stock 2.0L 4g63. Today we are sporting a 4g64 block combined with a 4g63 head, both built by MA Performance. A full Manley rotating assembly consisting of a billet crank, forged steel rods and forged aluminum pistons increases displacement to 2.4L. The cylinder head sports Manley valves, springs and titanium retainers set in motion by Kelford 272° camshafts. MA Performance tool steel head studs squeeze the, believe it or not, two Felpro headgaskets that are stacked together and coated in copper spray. This combination has solved previous head gasket failure issues and replacement gaskets are easy to come by at local AutoZones if the need arises. A Gates kevlar timing belt keeps everything spinning appropriately.
