Project Professional Awesome Time Attack Evo: Part 0 – The End of an Era, the Beginning of a Legend

,

After aerodynamic modifications were made, we spent considerable time documenting flow over the Evo… on a closed circuit…
Our 3rd variant of front splitter incorporated diffusers ahead of the front wheels. The goal is to create additional downforce while smoothing airflow into the wheel wells. An emphasis was placed on weight savings in this design as well and we utilized Cool it Thermotec gold shielding to protect from heat created by the down downpipe.
The entire exhaust was carefully wrapped with Cool It Thermotec Copper Gen II heat wrap to keep the car and me from catching on fire.

The aerodynamics of the Pro Awe Evo changed dramatically over the years as well. A completely smooth underfloor was added along with a redesigned rear diffuser. With the addition of the smooth underfloor, substantial attention was paid to heat management. We’ve used Cool It Thermo Tec products throughout. We wrapped the entire exhaust with their Generation II Copper Insulating exhaust wrap and used their Anodized Gold Heat Barrier along all surfaces exposed to high temperatures. A Kognition rear wing still anchors the back of the car, but instead of a trunk mount, the wing was replaced with a chassis mount setup. We’ve added a Seibon carbon fiber hood and trunk to save precious pounds. Both were gutted to a level we felt safe and Aerocatch hood pins added. We still run stock doors, although they've also been gutted as much as possible.

Many memories were created in the first Professional Awesome Evo. Something tells me, V2.0 will have plenty of good times ahead!

As time goes on, we will continue to update the build of the Time Attack Evo V2.0. A redesigned cage by All Speed Innovations is first on the list, a full rebuild of the complete drivetrain is necessary and the folks at MA Performance are hard at work on the turbo manifold. Stay tuned boys and girls while we prepare some crazy ideas for upcoming stories!
