Project Sim Racer: Part 5 – Triple the Threat with Advanced SimRacing

Here are some HDMI and Displayport extension cables.

Since my computer doesn’t sit near the sim rig, I have long cables to go to the televisions. I ended up using one HDMI cable and two Displayport-HDMI cables. Instead of digging around behind the computer every time I want to go sim racing, I have these extensions staged and waiting.

Then I can run the long display and USB cables from the rig over to the computer and quickly plug them in.

I’ll grab some of the coiled cable wrap stuff from Amazon to make this bundle of cables even cleaner.

Ultimately, how did it all turn out? Well, I do want to give my driving some credit, but in my last race with CMS’ league, I managed to come in P2 in my class! I was actually first for much of the race, but I misjudged my fuel strategy in the 1-hour race and ended up being passed in the final minutes.

Yes, that’s how realistic some of these sims are. I actually had to manage my pit/fuel strategy as well as my shifting and driving to try to conserve fuel. My attempt at a 1-stopper ultimately failed, though. Oh well, maybe next time!

And, for sure, next time will be way more fun, thanks to Advanced SimRacing.

Now I just need a direct drive wheel, a motion kit, maybe a custom/DIY steering wheel, and…
