Project Toyota Supra MKIV, Part 5: Thermal coating and wrapping, and engine assembly

,

Standing in front of MKC's upstairs office, I just wanted to share some of the random—yet cool—car projects that show up on a daily basis.  For instance, here we can't miss a pretty yellow 575whp Hallett Supercharged Grand Sport Vette, or the 1000whp blue Dodge Charger twin turbo, or the two '95 E36 BMW M3s beneath me—to the left a 600whp turbo project in Mystic paint, and behind it a silver 450whp supercharged example.  Oh, and the beige station wagon.

While the mystic-painted turbo M3 is getting its engine redone, the silver M3's engine is running, putting out 450whp at 17 PSI on pump and methanol injection, thanks to a Vortech V2-SQ supercharged RMS kit with front mount heat exchanger, fully-built 8.5:1 3-liter and a Pro EFI stand-alone engine management system.  It's also only got 60k miles.

Beyond Nelson is MKC's Dynojet 424x.  The strapped Evo was just tuned to a solid 510whp on pump 93, no meth injection.  And there's the lowly Project Supra beyond it, where it's been sitting for nearly a year now.

A close up of the dyno-tuned Evo, with a Precision 6262 turbo and Magnus intake manifold.  510whp on pump with a 2-liter is very impressive, and the graph looked smooth.

Just beyond the Supra sits MKC-owner Chad Charlton's drag Civic.  Its tiny GSR 1.9-litre is tuned with a Motec EMS, and powered by a Bullseye Power S372R turbo attached to a Full Race exhaust manifold.  The combo provides a nasty 950whp!  Chad hasn't returned to the track since his dyno session and newfound power but with 800whp has previously bested a 9.39 @ 159mph on a 24.5-in tire.
