Revenge of the Nerd – The Consultant, Helping Fast GT-R’s go Even Faster!

,

You are probably dying to know more about this R35 so I will take you around it.  The car is not that radical, in fact it is very straightforward in how simple the build is.  Almost all of the parts are off the shelf and the stuff that isn't will be in a few weeks.  It is a very impressive car that can pull over a G in a corner, stop on a dime, run an 8 second quarter mile and drive to the grocery store.

The engine is topped with this prototype Greddy intake manifold with a pair of large plenums and equal length runners with internal velocity stacks.  This manifold yields more than 50 hp in the midrange over stock and increased power across the board!  It will be in production soon.

The huge Greddy drive by wire throttle bodies were also prototypes that will be in production very soon.

Big Greddy charge pipes use Greddys BOV's set to recirculate.  The pipes lead to a big Greddy front mount intercooler that has carbon ductwork to direct airflow, a really nice piece.  Greddy also supplied the engine and transmission oil coolers.

An Aeromotive regulator controls the fuel flow to really big injectors with an SP Engineering fuel rail.  Dual Walbro fuel pumps keep the beast fed.

What you can't see will kill you.  The engine uses a Greddy big bore block.  The block is dry sleeved in Japan by the same company that does Nismo's JGTC engines.  The same company also CNC ports the cylinder heads.  Greddy turned to Japan after having no luck with the reliability of American machine shops and sleeves.  The sleeves kept sinking until the machine work was sourced in Japan.  The dry sleeves improve the block integrity over the previously used wet sleeves.  Greddy rods, stroker crank and forged pistons are also used to get 4.3 liters from the engine.  Greddy tubular stainless exhaust headers with Greddy external wastegates feed Greddy Spec Mitsubishi 20G turbos.  Tomei cams and valvesprings move stock intake and exhaust valves.  The engine is capable of producing 800 hp on pump gas and over 1170whp on VP C16 race fuel at 37 psi of boost.  The car is only slightly more laggy than stock!  If leaned on the engine can produce over 1200 hp but we never got to run it up that hard.
