The 19 story building that houses the street from BMW Museum is designed to look like a four cylinder engine. |
You can't visit Munich without making your way to the BMW Museum, located just north of the city near the infamous OlympiaPark. I also like to visit museums during my travels so I can claim my trips as business incomeā¦ Just kidding IRS! The BMW Museum really is a work of art. From the design outside to the elevators to the layout to the coffee shop, it's exquisite. The parking lot drops you off into the Technology and Design Atelier where all the new makes/models are displayed. You can try out the xDrive driving simulator or if you're so inclined (and I assume your credit check is processed without issue…), you can take a car for a test drive, leaving the building via a spiral roadway in the middle of the center. You can also take the keys to your new BMW via the personalized automobile delivery package.
BMW Welt features a Double Cone design that showcases the alternating product exhibitions. 275 architecture firms competed and the winner (Viennese firm Coop Himmelblau) was a student of the designer of the “4-cylinder” BMW tower building. |
BMW takes its exhaust manifold design and turns it into a 6' tall work of art. |
Husqvarna Motorcycles are on exhibit on the second floor of the BMW Welt. The exhibit includes the traditional Dakar rally bike, the TE449 RR. | The TE449 RR has a modified 350cc engine and a buttload of navigational and safety equipment. To keep the weight low, it uses a carbon kevlar fairing. |
