Sebring 2013: The Following

,

The sun sets, the parties start up and everyone heads over to Green Park to see F Troop, La Bomba, and all the other entertaining things happening at the far side of the track.

Saturday starts with a bite to eat and practice, followed by the grid walk before the start of the race. The opportunity is there to check out the pit boxes, and then see the teams lined up on the front straight getting ready for the start of a punishing and hopefully rewarding 12 hours.

You always get quite a show at Sebring. The track started life as B-17 airfield, and the front and back straights still use the same concrete poured many years ago. The settling of the concrete tests the racers' suspensions and you can watch the loading and unloading of a car's suspension as it bobs through turn 1. This is even better through binoculars or the long lens of a camera where you can see the side of the car bottomed against the track and then back to normal ride height.
