We reinstalled the Garrett intercooler in the stock location. It bolted right in place using all of the factory mounting positions, and the inlet temperature sensor wiring did not need to be modified. This made for a very easy install.
Once everything was bolted down we noticed the Garrett Advancing Motion intercooler left a small finger gap space between the OE foam insulation and its core. This is not a huge deal, but if you want to squeeze every bit of cooling efficiency from your new intercooler, we suggest going to your local hardware store and picking up a roll of foam insulation to fill in the gap.
Here is the Garrett Advancing Motion intercooler in place and ready for the next round of tests. As you can see, it fits in the stock location. All the shrouds will fit in their OE location and the front bumper will also go back on with no fuss.
The thermocouples were put in the same place as in the previous test of the stock intercooler.
This photo shows how the Garrett intercooler bolts cleanly right up to the factory locations with no fabrication.
Now we are ready to dyno test the Garrett intercooler for power gains and thermal efficiency!
