Tested! NGK’s New BMW 335i Coils and Bosch Plugs

,

Let’s get to the installation, shall we? The N54 3.0-liter twin turbo inline-six cylinder engine is the same found in other BMWs, including the same year 135, 535, and X5 X-drive35 cars. In order to get to the back couple of coils, we’ll have to remove the cowl there.

The cowl is held in place by around seven screws with 8mm heads. A simple socket wrench will do the trick.

There are two parts to removing the cowl. First, we’ll want to take out the cabin filter part, and then the rest of the cowl.

If you ever have to replace the cabin filter, take that piece you just pulled off and simply flip it over. The filter will be right there. A new cabin filter is $20 from Sparkplugs.com. Change it if the air coming through your vents has any odor.

In order to access the last two 8mm screws to release the cowl (see the bottom of the pic), you’ll have to pop the cover off of the driver side, which shields the brake reservoir…

  1. Awesome writeup, test, results and all. Installing the same setup in a stage 1 Revo Audi B7, tomorrow in fact, so yeah this is an exciting read.
