…as well as the cover on the passenger side, which hides the car’s ECU. Keep in mind you might have a connector on each side of the car, depending on the specific model. Make sure not to damage any wiring.
 

With those screws removed, you can remove the cowl. Instead of pulling straight up, pull straight forward, toward the front of the car.
 

With the cowl removed, we now have access to the rear two cylinders.
 

Let’s continue by removing the plastic engine cover, which is a no brainer. It takes a 5mm Allen wrench, and that’s it.
 

There are only three 5mm Allen screws holding it down. Once removed, simply pop it right off. Unlike with previous 3 Series cars, you don’t have to remove the oil cap.
