ChumpCar at the Glen

Bill Strong's #79 MR2 is fast. And when it's running well it is always in the fight for a podium. Unfortunately, as huge transmission and differential issues struck the team this weekend, a podium finish was not going to happen. Auto Evolution was a blur all weekend … they were going for a podium finish, working very hard, and almost got there!
It was great to see this Datsun out on the track! Team Shore Bet ran this car and were running strong!
Team PunisherGP II fielded this awesome looking Porsche. Fast lap of the day was 2:25.9 – also quite consistent.
Me-at-a-Race had a very busy paddock area. You need a bike, scooter, cart, or other vehicle to get around the paddock. And if you want to explore the corners, transportation is a must. A big thanks to Steve who allowed me to travel the track on his Ruckus (left).
While I was out exploring the track, Steve was catching a few well-deserved rays! As our Civic's mechanic, he deserved a break. It's been a challenging process to get it back up to speed – and he did it! In fact, on Saturday he turned the fastest lap of the day with a 2:16.9. He was in a groove and just flying!
After a year of frustration, the No Budget Racing Civic is back and better than ever. There was a hit Saturday just in front of the right rear wheel as another driver tried to dive under our car but locked up the brakes and lost control. Spun our driver out in turn 1 and wasn't a pleasant experience. Fortunately, the damage did not affect the alignment significantly and, after a bit of work with a large pry bar, the Civic was back in action. The 99 was also involved in a touch with the 59 BMW – I'm not sure exactly what happened there – our car is nice but the BMW is pristine.
