The gravel trap off of turn 13 (the heel of the boot) claimed a few cars over the weekend. Once in, your were stuck until a rescue team came to withdraw you. Then you rattled a bit from gravel picked up, but it did the trick and slowed you down.
Not everyone managed to drive away under their own power after an incident. This was a scary moment, but driver was fine. I didn't hear how the car fared. This occured in the toe of the boot at Turn 10. My camera shutter speed was 1/30 – so pardon the bit of fuzz surrounding this.
Our crew had pit spot number 1, so we had a perfect view of turn 1. Of course, anytime something occurred my camera was turned off. There was a lot of great action as cars overtook as they sought to carry enough speed into the uphill Esses to get the speed sought going into the bus stop!
Always photogenic, the E34 Racing team's BMW is an awesome car. Consistently fast and this team works hard! This is coming through the toe of the boot!
I laughed as I thought the entire E34 team was heading to the portable washrooms – they were actually heading to turn 1 to observe the action!
I'm partial to Miatas, and #154 – Don't Have A Clue Racing – was a fast car. We actually shared a pit spot for a moment as they were preparing to get a good starting spot on the grid! They finished Saturday in Sixth place.
Great to see Me-at-a-Race back out with the #861 Miata. These are a great group of guys and I wish I had more time to chat with. Love the car and always enjoy sharing the track with them.
