Extreme Engine Tech: Building a BMW S52 – Part 2: The Cylinder Head

,

The valves are nitrided to offer increased surface hardness and slipperiness of the valve stem to valve guide interface ensuring long wear, galling resistance and resistance to sticking.  The valve stem tips are hardened for long life.
The intake valves have a flat nail head type contour and a reduced stem diameter near the head for the best flow.
To match the performance of our valves we complemented them with a set of Supertech valve springs. Supertech valve springs are manufactured within Supertech's strictest tolerances. Supertech uses a Superclean Chrome Silicon Vanadium Steel designed for high performance and durability at high RPM's. Superclean steel has less internal impurities which can drastically reduce a spring's life.
Supertech employs computer modeling to make sure all their springs are within their stress tolerances and all harmonics are under control. This helps the springs resist surge.
Supertech dual springs have greater valve spring tension and engineered harmonics for less susceptibility to valve float and spring surge at higher rpm.
Knockout combo.  Supertech valves and valve springs are behind many of the top race teams motors.
