Now be gentle when you lay in your cams, yes you have lube but you still don't want to drop the cam journals or lobes onto the lifters. 

All camed up and nowhere to go. 

The cam drive sprocket's and timing chain are installed next.

The intake cam is driven by a separate chain driven off the exhaust cam. The chain links the exhaust cam with the Vanos variable cam timing unit.

The cam caps are now installed and torqued to spec.

Setting the proper cam timing was made easier by the use of this special tool which held everything in place as the cam sprockets were torqued down.
